Key Achievements

Louth County Council (2009 – Present)

  • Elected at the first attempt and was the only new FG councillor elected in the 2009 local elections.
  • Achieved 3 seats for FG in the area for the 1st time ever.
  • Secured funding for 4 new playgrounds plus additional community and recreational facilities across the county


Louth Leader Partnership (Board Member 2007 – 2008 , Chairman 2008- Present)

  • Oversaw the establishment of more than 200 sole trader and small businesses in 2010
  • Managed the amalgamation of 5 quangos which reduced admin costs by 33% whilst maintaining frontline services
  • Spearheaded business development initiatives in the areas of Renewable Energies, Tourism and Agri. Diversification.


President of Macra na Feirme

  • Represented Irish Agriculture as a delegate to conferences and export trade fairs in Europe and the Far East.
  • Lead negotiator for Macra during 2 social partnership discussions and budget consultations.
  • Negotiated on behalf of the 8,000 members with the EU commission regarding agriculture policy.
  • Played a significant role to promote the modernisation of the agri sector in Ireland.
